JAMMU, Feb 4: Viklang Charitable Trust (VCT), Akhnoor, asked the Government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to enhance the pensions of the aged, widows and handicapped people in J&K.
As per an open letter addressed to Chief Minister, MLAs and MLCs by Satya Pal Saraf, organizer, VCT said that the senior citizens, destitute widows and handicapped in J&K are facing lots of problems, but the Government is least concerned about the same.
He said that they are being paid Rs 200 per month as pension for nutritional diet, medicare and other necessities by the Government, which is very low.
Saraf urged the Government, MLAs and MLCs to enhance the pension from Rs 200 to Rs 1000 per month, as the same will work as a sigh of relief for aged, widows and handicapped people in J&K.
