JAMMU, June 8: Terming the enhancement of monthly honorarium of ASHA workers to Rs.10000/- per month by newly formed Government in Andhra Pradesh led by Jagan Reddy, Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), J&K today urged the State Government to follow the same procedure in the State also.
In a meeting held here, today Sham Prasad Kesar, senior CITU leader urged upon the J&K Governor to enhance the honorarium of ASHA workers to Rs.10000/- PM on the pattern of Andhra Pradesh. Pertinent to mention here that the ASHA workers have been tirelessly performing their duties and responsibilities as a result of which there has been perceptible improvement in child delivery system resulting into improvement in IMR rate in the State.
Besides, there has been a demand that uniform for these workers should be issued in purple colour which need to be considered properly by the administrative department.
The Governor administration was also urged upon to evolve a mechanism to ensure that existing honorarium is paid to the ASHAs on regular monthly basis so that their families do not suffer in absence of regular honorarium.
