RAJOURI, Sept 13: Alert Forest staff foiled an attempt of some people to encroach nearly 1.5 Kanal of Forest land in Kalalkas area of district Rajouri during early hours today.
Official sources said that after receiving specific inputs, a Forest team assisted by police rushed to the spot falling in Compartment No. 171/R Block Kalalkas at around 5 am and seized a JCB machine clearing the Forest land. It had cleared more than 1.5 kanal of forest area.
While the land grabbers managed to escape, the JCB was seized by team and proceedings under J&K Forest Act were initiated against the accused persons by DFO Rajouri, Sanjay Kumar Gupta.
