Encroached State land retrieved from drug peddler

KULGAM, May 13: District administration and police here today retrieved 6 Marlas of State land allegedly encroached upon by a drug peddler in Qaimoh area.
Officials said the market value of the restored land at Wanpora Village, falling under Survey number 303, is around Rs 18 lakh.
They said the land was encroached by a drug peddler, identified as Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh, who is named as an accused in case FIR number 69/2023 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act and FIR number 20/2023 under sections 8/21 registered at Police Station Qaimoh.
Officials further said that the retrieved State land has been taken into possession by the concerned authorities under the relevant provisions of the J&K Revenue Act and other applicable laws.
“Necessary notices have also been affixed on the spot and further legal proceedings, as warranted under law, shall follow,” they said.
Meanwhile, SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Chowdhary, stated that police will continue its action against drug peddlers and anti-social elements, particularly those who have occupied State land or built properties from the proceeds of the drug trade.
He further appealed to the public to share information regarding drug trafficking and other criminal activities for ensuring a safer and drug-free society.
