SRINAGAR: An encounter ensued between militants and security forces in Tral in Pulwama district this evening, official sources said.
Meanwhile, demonstrators snatched a weapon from a CRPF officer at Gole Market, Tral, they said adding a massive hunt has been launched to recover the rifle. However, locals are protesting and trying to disrupt the operation against the militants, trapped there.
Official sources said security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at village Hafro Reshipora, Tral in Pulwama district following a tip-off about the presence of militants.
However, when the security forces were sealing the village, militants hurled hand grenade and resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons. Security forces also retaliated ensuing a fierce encounter. It is reported a local and a Pakistani militants are trapped inside a house in the village, they said adding operation was going when the report last came in. (AGENCIES)
