JAMMU, Nov 30: Demanding open discussion on farm laws and guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP), DDC Member Suchetgarh and Kissan leader, Taranjit Singh Tony said that Government led by PM Narendra Modi is acting as an authoritarian dispensation giving two hoots to the principles of democracy.
In a statement issued here, the DDC member appealed to PM Modi to hold open discussion on three farm laws and let the people decide who was right and who was not on the issue. He also appealed to the PM to bring legislation on MSP as the same is necessary for delivery of justice to the tiller community.
He said that enacting laws and repealing the same without holding discussions speaks of malafide intentions of the Government.
“It seems that Government is hiding things and is shy to answer questions on this very issue otherwise there was no point in not giving nod to hold a debate which is a tradition of the Parliament especially when the Government is bringing something better for the people”, Tony said, adding that there was something wrong which brought the PM Modi and his Ministers on back foot. He said that avoiding discussion itself speaks volumes about something fishy in the whole gamut.
Tony said that the primary demand of farmers was MSP and repealing of three black laws. “By repealing laws without discussion and brazenly killing democracy and tarnishing the image of Indian democracy all across the globe, Modi Government has still not woken up and further diminishing the reputation of the government at international arena”, Tony said, adding that still there is time for the BJP Government to regain confidence of farmers by bringing legislation on MSP and giving the farming community the respite which it is demanding since long.
