Empowerment of women

Sir,
From the days our society came to fore, women have never been treated casually owing to numerous cultural traditions, ethos and inhuman treatments. This is because, on the whole, women have little control over the means of production and are a weaker class. They are, therefore exploited by men. To redress this, the Union Government of India did a good job by way of launching National Mission for Empowerment of Women on March, 8, 2010.
This National Mission for Empowerment of Women in Jammu and Kashmir State has also been approved in the cabinet meeting of the State Government, which the editorial speaks. The main aim and objective of this National mission is to focus on the themes like economic empowerment of women, elimination of violence against women, social empowerment with particular emphases on health, nutrition, drinking water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, education including vocational training, development of self help groups etc. The editorial further speaks that the State Government must provide full autonomy to the Women’s Empowerment Society to planning and implementing projects according to the needs of the women depending up on the various areas of the  State. For example, the women of some far flung areas of Kishtwar, Ramban, Doda, Poonch, Rajouri districts as well as Baramulla, Anantnag,Leh, Kargil etc. are still suffering from basic facilities like health, drinking water, education, power and as such require to be tackled fastly.
Yours etc….
