JAMMU, Sept 25: Employees of various departments and Public Sector Undertakings held protest demonstration near the Press Club of Jammu here today.
The employees including daily rated/ casual workers from various departments, under the banner of J&K Govt Employees Joint Action Committee-R, assembled at the Exhibition Ground near Press Club here today and held strong protest demonstration. Ram Kumar Sharma, Rafiq Ahmed Khanyari, Balwan Singh Jamwal, Parshotam Sharma, Babu Hussain, Madan Sangral, Yash Pal, Bharat Bhushan and Javed Ahmed Akhoon were leading.
The agitating employees were carrying placards in hands and shouting slogans in support of their demands. They also raised slogans against the Government and condemned its attitude. They alleged that State Government had failed to implement the agreement and address pending issues of the employees. They also expressed their displeasure over the agitation calendar announced by some employees bodies and then its withdrawal from time to time. They cautioned the employees to remain vigilant from such self- styled leaders.
Several senior trade unionists addressed the gathering and alleged that Government was adopting delaying tactics over the demands of the employees. They demanded that if the Government was serious in resolving employees issues, it should implement the agreement of Sept 2011 addressing all the pending issues of the employees during proposed September 27 meeting at Srinagar. The Government must take decision regarding the fate of daily wagers and contractual/ consolidated workers, pay anomalies of clerical and other cadre, enhancement of retirement age, budgetary support to PSUs etc. They also appealed the employees leaders to strive for broader unity setting aside their personal interests and false ego.
