Srinagar, Mar 16: The employees of the Fisheries Department today projected several issues that are lying pending due to alleged inordinate delays by the higher-ups.
The representatives of the employees under the banner of All J&K Fisheries Employee’s Association while addressing a press conference said that there is no DPC held for the last so many years and that due to faults that lie within the department, an employee retires on the same post on which he was appointed.
“We have another issue of 2 and a half day salary, it is something which has never been sanctioned in our favour even though we work 24 hours,” said Athar Muzaffar President All J&K Fisheries Employee’s Association.
Further, the employees said that there is no assured career progression in the case of non-gazetted cadre employees even as 99 per cent of employees in the Fisheries Department fall in the non-gazetted cadre. “There are around 1700 employees, 99 per cent are non-gazetted; it is nothing but wilful stagnation; also, not even our seniority is being fixed,” he said.
The employees stressed the need for reorganization of the department. “There is a need for reorganizing the department and we want that to happen soon. We want the LG to intervene in the matter as we are being exploited every day,” the employees said.
They said that the redressal of their issues and demands are being subjected to delays. Our issues are being subjected to inordinate delays. We cannot wait any further. It is an irony that an employee in the fisheries department after his 30-year service retires on the same post on which he was appointed.
The employees warned of agitation if their demands are not fulfilled without any delay. “We cannot wait any further and there is a need for the Government to take our issues seriously and take measures to address the same,” they said.
