Employees Federation supports EJAC’s protest on May 28

*Seeks hike in medical allowance to Rs 10,000

SRINAGAR, May 24: Extending support to J&K Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC-R), Darbar Move Employees Federation (DMEF) today appealed all Jammu based employees to take active part in protest demonstration at Press Club Jammu on May 28 against employees’ issues.
Federation’s State president Ovais Wani appreciated the efforts of members of EJAC-R led by its State president Babu Hussain Malik for visiting various Government offices in Jammu to appeal employees to suspend work and assemble at Press Club, Jammu near Tawi bridge on May 28 to lodge their strong protest against various employee related issues.
Wani said that the Federations is extending its support to (EJAC-R) to protest against reversing of decades old practice in J&K by Governor’s administration and for restoring summer timings from 8 am to 2 pm in Jammu instead of 10 am to 4.30 pm.
He said that Federation also demanded enhancement of Medical allowance in favour of employees and pensioners from Rs 300 to Rs 10,000 per month as being given to Legislative Assembly/ Council members in the State.
Wani said that both are serving public and are humans first, so why there is difference in medical allowances and no special concession is given to the employees by the Government. He added that the employees are paying same Medical consultation fee as Assembly members are paying for treatment and then why there is differences in allowance.
He demanded removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre / amendment in SRO-333 and formation of roadmap policy of regularizing daily wagers and contractual.
Wani also demanded increasing HRA upto 30% as Central Government employee are being paid, besides providing free tour package to the State employees as it was being giving earlier.
