JAMMU, Aug 11: Alleging irregularities in promotions and urging the Forest Minister to take initiatives like Education Minister for rectifying the mistakes committed by previous regimes, the Social Forestry Employees Union has served an ultimatum to the Government for settling all the issues within 15 days or face an indefinite strike.
“The Government should frame a committee to screen the pattern of seniority list and all promotion done in the past so that a strict action may be taken against the officers involved in illegal promotions,” said Raj Singh, president of the Union, while addressing a press conference, here today.
He alleged that there was no promotion policy in the Department where Junior Malis, appointed under SRO 64 of 1994, were ignored for promotion despite being good experienced and better qualified then the other Class IV employees. There is dire need of re-organization of the Department, which is functioning without foiling any rules and norms,” he alleged.
Highlighting some other issues, the Union leader lamented that the Service books, GP statements and in-situ promotions of class IV employees were still lying pending while no body was serious about the genuine problems of Low class employees. “We request the minister to enquire why the necessaries entries were not made in service books of the employees, who have been regularly serving in the department for more than 15 to 20 years,” he said.
Serving an ultimatum of 15 days for revocation of the illegal promotion orders and considering all the issues, Raj Singh warned indefinite strike and holding of protest demonstrations in front of every SF Divisional Forest office.
Sheh Dev Singh, C Mirza Bashir, Updesh Singh, Piran Ditta, Hardev Singh, Mangal Singh, Ram Paul Sharma and others were also present in the press conference.
