Prime Minister’s clarion national call “Beti Bachao Beti Padao” must be made practically workable on the ground, the duty of which falls on each one of us. Secondly, the flagship welfare scheme of the Central Government “Aayushman Bharat Yojna” where up to Rs. 5 lakh worth of medical treatment of an eligible person is borne by the Government, has not been availed of by Tahira, a school going girl who became victim of the shelling of Pakistan in Mendhar Poonch sector nearly one and a half years back in October 2017. She has virtually lost her one leg and the family is reported to have spent as much as Rs. 14 lakh on her treatment. Though she has been hospitalised in State hospitals in both the capital cities of the state preceded by the treatment in an army hospital, yet she is not in a position to walk.
The family is all praises for the army for the ‘great help’ rendered to them as also the medical assistance provided to the girl from time to time but is sore about all those political leaders who kept visiting them but never fulfilled any promise of rendering help. We would request that the district authorities must contact the family and provide the requisite help under their discretionary powers plus build up the case for her receiving due and free medical treatment so that she is again fit and able to walk, and build her career. Border dwellers otherwise are entitled to our special attention and help as they keep on facing the maximum brunt of Pakistani aggressive postures and unprovoked firing and shelling , at times targeting them straight.
