ELFA organizes workshop on Whole School Safety

JAMMU, Sept 12: ELFA International in collaboration with the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha J&K and UNICEF India organized a one-day training workshop for Master Trainers and DIET faculty members at a hotel, here today.
The event was organized under the guidance of State Project Director Deep Raj Kanethia and attended by Danish Aziz, Educational Specialist UNICEF, J&K, Syed Fayaz (Coordinator), Samagra Shiksha and Ajeet Sharma (State Coordinator) Samagra Shiksha. Around 40 Master trainers from various districts of Jammu division were trained on Jammu & Kashmir Whole School Safety Programme (WSSP).
Presenting welcome address, CEO ELFA presented an encompassing picture of the components like DRR, WASH, MHM, MHPSS and others which are integral to Whole School Safety and the responsibility both Government and individuals have to play in ensuring the implementation of all these components in letter and spirit.
Danish Aziz spoke of the technicalities and finer details of WSSP, while at the same time ensuring perennial support from UNICEF to programmes like these. He spoke at length about the evolution and unfurling of WSSP and its culmination into the present phase.
Syed Fayaz expressed his appraisal for the programme and the much-felt safety deficit vacuum it has filled in schools. He said the program has set a benchmark against which the safety of schools and the children therein will be evaluated in times to come. He reiterated his support and continuous presence for such programs, whenever called for.
All the resource persons were from ELFA International and Samagra Shiksha. The event was coordinated by Sajad Mir, Kiranpreet Kour, Anjali Anand, Fatima Khan and Komalpreet Kour, team members of ELFA International.
