Srinagar, July 4: Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) today demanded that only the permanent residents of J&K should be appointed against the vacancies that are available with various Government departments.
Addressing media persons here, the Chairman of EJCC Aijaz Khan said that there are around 50 thousand vacancies in the Government departments and the residents of J&K are eyeing the Government jobs in the absence of strong private sector.
“With the private sectors not being so strong, the educated youth, after completing their education struggle in order to get a Government job; in this regard, we appeal the Government to appoint only the residents of J&K on these available posts,” he said.
He also underlined the need of regularizing daily wagers, contractual employees and others who are working tirelessly and are being meagrely paid.
“These employees are working in various departments for the last 7 years, they should be regularized, along with the fair price employees; we want to make it clear here that these employees must be regularized according to the SRO 64 and not the SRO 520,” he said.
The EJCC demanded that the pending wages of these workers working in various departments as well as the Fair-Price shop detailers of the Food Department must be released well before Eid so that they fulfil the needs of their families.
The employees’ forum also appealed the Fair-Price dealers of the Jammu region to end their strike which they have started to press for the demands.
“We have a mandate of serving our people-and the times around are tough and we appeal them to end the strike and not push the commoners to face more difficulties,” they said.
EJCC said that in order to raise their issues, they could have resorted to harsh measures, but they are aware of the sufferings of people and appeal the administration to look into their demands and address the same.
