JAMMU, June 17: J&K Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) has resolved to fully support 48-hour strike announced by the daily rated workers (DRWs) in J&K UT on June 22 and 23.
In a meeting of the EJAC-R, held under the chairmanship of Babu Hussain Malik, the senior members of the Action Committee including Yashpal Sharma, Kulwant Singh, Darshan Magotra, Tanveer Hussain and others discussed various pending issues of the temporary workers and other employees and condemned the attitude of the State Administration. They alleged that Lt Governor’s Administration has failed to solve the issues of the DRWs and other employees.
EJAC strongly demanded regularization of the daily rated/ temporary workers and a specific wage policy for all type of workers. They said the wage policy under SRO-520 has already been rejected by the EJAC being discriminatory and bias. EJAC demanded revival and amendment of SRO-64 of 1994 and adoption of same guidelines for the regularization of daily wagers.
The members said that the J&K Government launched the process of recruitment of 10,000 employees but unfortunately it failed to regularize the workers who have rendered more than 15-20 years of service.
They demanded to redress long pending issues of Non-Gazetted Accounts employees, removal of pay anomnalies of clerical cadre, release pending DA installments of employees and pensioners, revocation of SRO-24, regularization of all types of temporary workers including NRHM, Anganwadi, Asha workers, home guards, contractual teachers/ lecturers etc.
