EJAC-R threatens agitation over non-fulfillment of agreement

Srinagar, June 22: The Employees Joint Action Committee-R today expressed its concern over what it termed the anti-worker and anti employees policies of the State Government and threatened to launch agitation if Government fails to implement 2011 agreement it reached with the Government within 15 days.
Addressing a press conference here, EJAC- R president Ram Kumar Sharma and its general secretary Rafiq Ahmad Khanyari said that the Government is trying to hood wink the public opinion on employee issue for electoral gain in the ensuing Assembly elections.
“It is unfortunate that the State Govt. has addressed the issue of age enhancement from 58 to 60 yrs in respect of state employees but it is silent over regularization of casual, seasonal, consolidated, local fund need base and daily rated workers working in the different departments. It has failed to remove of pay anomalies of different cadres”, the leaders said.
The two leaders condemned Government for not fulfilling the agreement arrived between employees’ representatives and Government on 15 September 2011. They warned agitation if the agreement is not fulfilled within 15 days.
The EJAC-R decided to hold the convention to review overall scenario and to chalk out the future course of action.
They demanded regularization of the temporary workers, seasonal/ need base, consolidated, Local Fund and daily rated workers, who have completed 7 years of services after 1994. They also demanded removal of pay anomaly and disparities between clerks and teachers etc, budgetary support to PSU employees, Medical Insurance Policy to be implemented by the Govt. on minimum premium basis or to implement the Central Govt. Employees /Pensioners Medical Claim policy.
They also demanded grant of special duty allowance @12.50% to the employees of Ladakh region on the pattern of Central Govt, regularization of Home Guard employees and increase in the wages on the pattern of other States.
EJAC-R also demanded release of pension of JKSPDD employees working in JKSPDC and issue pending regularization orders of JKSPDC and JKPDD as per standing orders.
Earlier, two days session of the representatives of the employees, workers and teachers organizations under EJAC-R held in Srinagar in which the representatives of state committee and activists from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh participated.
