SRINAGAR, May 14: Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), Jammu and Kashmir (EJAC) has appealed to the J&K Government to sanction and release the 2 percent hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for Government employees in line with the Central Government employees and ensure the disbursement of all the pending financial claims ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha besides in advance pay for the month of May 2026.
In a statement, senior Trade Union leader and the EJAC president, Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam said that the increasing cost of day-to-day necessities have placed a heavy financial burden on the employees, and making the enhancement in D A unavoidable for providing economic relief to the employees.
Shabnam said that thousands of employees are still waiting for the clearance of their various pending dues, which have added to their difficulties at a time when families are preparing for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
Fayaz further said that the Government employees remain committed to the public service and continue to shoulder the important administrative responsibilities across Jammu and Kashmir despite facing the financial stress.
He urged the Government to take a sympathetic and employee-friendly approach by ensuring the payment of all the outstanding dues without further delay. He said timely action by the authorities would help the employees to celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha with peace of mind and would also boost the morale of the employees/workforce.
EJAC president further called upon the administration to expedite the process for implementation of the revised DA rate in line with the Central Government pattern and address all the pending claims of the employees on priority.
In view of the Eid-ul-Azha, Fayaz urged the Government to order for the payment of the salary for the month of May in advance. He expressed hope that the Government would respect the sentiments of the employees in view of the approaching Eid- ul-Azha.
