Eight held over setting police vehicle ablaze

SRINAGAR, Feb 3: Eight persons have been arrested in Pulwama district of South Kashmir over their alleged involvement in setting ablaze an armoured vehicle of police during protests last month.
A police officer told Excelsior that the eight persons were arrested during separate raids and they belong to different villages of district. He identified the arrested persons as Zubair Mir, Rayees Mir, Irfan Bhat, Hanan Najar, Adil Iqbal, Misbah Farooq, Asif Bhat and Nazir Mir.
Pertinently, a Hizbul Mujahideen militant was killed in an encounter in Naina on January 20. The militant’s killing had triggered widespread violence, resulting in killing of a civilian in security forces firing.
