Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated with religious fervor, gaiety across Jammu, Ladakh regions

JAMMU, June 26: Eid-ul- Fitr coming after the fasting month of Ramadhan was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety across the Jammu region today.
The Eid prayers were held at different Eidgahs and Jamia Masjids in different parts of the region by the members of Muslim community.

In Jammu city the biggest congregation was held at Eidgah Residency road where a large number of members of Muslim community attired in white dresses participated in Eid prayers this morning.
Special prayers were held for restoration of peace in the State and prosperity of mankind on the occasion. The members of Hindu and Sikh community were seen greeting their Muslim brethren on the occasion to maintain the age old secular and pluralistic values of Jammu region.
The Eid Namaz was also offered at Ustad Mohalla and Khatinka Talab mosques as well as other mosques in outskirts of Jammu. The Shia Sect of Muslims also celebrated the Eid with fervor and gaiety and offered Eid Namaz at Karbala Complex near DC Office Jammu and Bhathandi.
In addition to it the Eid Namaz was offered at Sunjwan, Chowadhi and other places.
The people greeted each other and exchanged pleasantries by hugging each other. The merry making children attired in colorful dresses were busy in making purchases of toys, gifts, balloons, sweets etc.
The reports coming from other districts said that Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated at Rajouri with great charm by the members of Muslim community and thousands of Muslims offered Eid Namaz in the town. Besides, the Eid Namaz was offered at Manjakote, Thanamandi, Darhal, Kala Kote, Koteranka, Budhal, Lam and other border belts of the area.
Eid was also celebrated with full enthusiasm and charm at Poonch and despite the drizzling in the morning thousands of Muslims drawn from different areas of the district participated in special Eid Namaz at Eidgah Poonch.
They were greeted by Commander Poonch Brigade, A S Pandarker, SSP Rajiv Pandey and DDC Tariq Ahmed Zargar besides the members of Hindu and Sikh community.
Reports reaching here from other parts of the district said that Eid Namaz was offered at Mandi, Surankote and other parts of the district. At Draba Surankote the army distributed sweets among the people on the occasion.
Eid was celebrated with fervor and gaiety in border town of Mendhar in Poonch district where thousands of Muslims offered Eid prayers in Eidgah and other mosques on the occasion.
The Eid –ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervor across the Ramban district today. The main congregational prayers were held at Jamia Masjid Sharif Ramban where thousands of devotees offered Namaz and prayed for peace.
The district administration had made elaborate security and other necessary arrangements for smooth celebration of the holy festival. Besides, Eid prayers were also held at different places in the town and its outskirts including Chandrog, Maitra and Upper Ramban.
After the prayers the District Development Commissioner Ramban, Tariq Hussain Ganai and other officers of district administration and people from all walks of life extended greetings to the people on the occasion. The reports of celebrations of Eid have also come from Banihal, Ukhral, Batote, Gool and Rajgarh.
Biggest congregation of Eid prayers were held at Doda and Kishtwar also where thousands of members of Muslim community participated in the prayers.
Eid prayers were also held at Eidgah Bhadarwah by members of Muslim community.
Eid prayers were also held at Kathua, Bani and other places of district while in Samba district Eid prayers were held at Samba and Sarore. At Sarore Eid party was feasted by Auqaf headed by Salim Choudhary in which besides DC Samba, Sheetal Nanda and SSP Samba, Anil Magotra the district officers of various departments and prominent people participated.
Reports reaching here from Leh, Ladakh said that Eid was celebrated with full religious fervor and gaiety in the Ladakh region. At Leh the Muslim members belonging to Sunni Sect performed Eid Namaz at Eidgah while members of Shia Sect performed the Namaz at Polo Ground Leh. Soon after the Namaz people offered Eid greetings to each other.
At Kargil thousands of people all over Kargil participated in the prayers of Eid-ul-Fitr which was led by Markazi Imam Jumma Hujjatul Islam Wal Muslameen Sheikh Mohammad Hussain Mufeed in the ISK Campus Kargil.
On this occasion member of Ullama Council Kargil, Chairman J&K Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali, CEC LAHDC, Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, councilors and district officers also participated in the prayers.
