Effective initiatives taken for all round improvement in law & order situation in Valley: DGP

SRINAGAR, Aug 21: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has said that effective initiatives have been taken to bring all round improvement in the law and order situation in the Valley to ensure security of the people. He has said that stringent action will be taken against those disrupting the peace and creating panic among the masses.
DGP was interacting with the police officers and personnel during his day long visit to the North Kashmir districts of Baramulla, Handwara and Sopore today. He was accompanied by IGP Kashmir SP Pani.
At Baramulla, the DGP attended the wreath laying ceremony of martyr SPO Bilal Ahmad Magray who was martyred during the Ganai Hamam, Baramulla encounter. Sub Inspector Amardeep Singh who was leading the operation received injuries in the encounter and was shifted to Army Hospital Srinagar where he is under treatment in the hospital. The wreath laying ceremony was also attended by IGP Armed Kashmir Vijay Kumar, GOC 19 Division Major General GP Singh, Brigadier 79 Div. Girish Kalia, Brigadier 19 Artillery Shridhar, DC Baramulla GN Ittoo and other officers. DGP interacted with the family of the martyr and assured them that police will provide all the assistance and help to them.
On the occasion, DGP said that the coordinated Cordon and Search Operations by the police and other forces will continue to mount further pressure on terrorists. He said that achievements have been made on the anti-militancy front and these operations will continue to isolate the militants so that they do not mislead the masses.
Dilbag Singh also visited Sopore and Handwara and took a round of the two districts to assess security and law and order situation. He emphasized upon the police officers to provide a helping hand to the people to ease their difficulties.
He said that people’s cooperation is must for normalizing the day to day activities and Jammu and Kashmir Police has to make every effort for addressing the people’s difficulties.
DGP interacted with the SDPO’s, SHO’s and other territorial and Army & CAPF officers deployed for in counter insurgency and law and order grid and complimented the good work being done by the troops.
Singh also visited the Army Hospital to know the welfare of the injured officer SI Amardeep Singh. He emphasized upon the doctors to provide all medical assistance to the injured officer.
