EESL signs MoU with DoP for pan-India distribution of energy-efficient appliances

NEW DELHI: Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of PSUs under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, on Saturday, signed an MoU with the Department of Posts (DoP) for distribution of energy-efficient appliances under the Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) programme.

The agreement was signed in the presence of EESL Managing Director Saurabh Kumar and Department of Posts CGM (BD) Sarita Singh.

The MoU was signed between EESL Director-Finance Renu Narang and Department of Posts GM (BD) Brajesh Kumar.

EESL will distribute the LED lights (bulbs & tubelights) and BEE five star fans through DoP’s network of post offices across India. The distribution of these energy-efficient appliances will be conducted in a phased manner across states through select post offices. Under this initiative, the post office centres will provide the additional facility of replacement of non-functional LED bulbs, tube lights and fans that are within their technical warranty period under the UJALA programme.

Through this partnership, EESL will increase the convenience for consumers to promote active participation in the UJALA programme. Divided into 23 postal circles, EESL and DoP have enhanced the distribution approach, as this will be the largest network for distribution and replacement of UJALA appliances. (AGENCIES)
