Educational institutions celebrate Teachers’ Day with enthusiasm

JAMMU, Sept 5: Teachers’ Day which marks the birth anniversary of 2nd President of India, a great teacher and philosopher, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, was celebrated today with great zeal and enthusiasm in various educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
On this auspicious occasion, a function was organized at SKICC, where Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, was the chief guest. On the occasion, he gave away best teachers’ award to Hilal Ahmed Lone, serving at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kangan and Charanpreet Kour, presently serving at Government Middle School, Smailpur in Samba district.
While expressing his views in front of a large gathering of teachers, Chief Education Officers, Zonal Education Officers, and academician, Ganai termed ‘teachers as beacons of hope’, who should be encouraged by students and parents by expressing gratitude, respect and support to them.
Vice Chancellor (VC) Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Mushtaq Siddique, VC Central University Kashmir, Professor Mehraj-ud-din Mir, VC Cluster University Srinagar, Professor Sheikh Javeed, Secretary School Education, Rigzin Sampheal, Directors School Education Kashmir, Jammu along with other prominent personalities were present in the function.
Highlighting the role of teachers, the Advisor said that teachers’ play an influential and a significant role to shape up the future of their students in their formative years. Ganai attributed teachers as “beacons of light” who with their guidance have the power to mould and shape the future of their students. He said teachers are the founders who shape responsible and civilized citizens for the society.
The Day was also celebrated much fanfare by co-curricular committee of MIER College of Education. Dr Arun Gupta, Chairman, MIER Group of Institutions was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme started with Saraswati Vandana. A floral homage was presented to Dr S Radhakrishnan followed by a skit performed by students of BEd. A fusion of old songs was also presented by the students.
To mark the occasion, NSS wing of KC College of Education in collaboration with “Inner Wheel Club”, an international organization working for social causes, organized a programme. The event started with the lighting of ceremonial lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana and thereafter a variety programme. Lalita Gupta, president, Inner Wheel club paid rich tributes to Dr S Radhakrishnan and urged the teachers to follow his footsteps.
Paying rich tributes Dr Radhakrishnan during a Teachers’ Day function at Government Higher Secondary School, Sunjwan, Former Deputy CM and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta said, “Teacher is the maker of nation. It is very important to have good teachers and good teachers can be produced only if we have a good system of teacher education and dedicated and efficient teacher-educators. Without teachers, both knowledge and morals would suffer”. Later Kavinder Gupta also honoured teachers at a Teachers’ Day function in Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar. He was accompanied by Baldev Blowria and Vinay Gupta.
Teachers’ Day was celebrated in Sant Mela Singh College of Education with great enthusiasm. Chairman of the College, Prof Anmol Singh, was the chief guest on the occasion. He threw light on the importance of the teacher as builder of a nation. Students of the College presented various activities like poetry, songs and speeches.
To celebrate the Day, a function was organized in National College of Education, Purkhoo Camp, Jammu. The programme started with lighting of ceremonial lamp, which was followed by cake cutting ceremony performed by Principal, Dr Manju Dwivedi. Students of 1st and 3rd sang songs and poems in honour of teachers. They also present their views.
Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Education, Rajbagh organized a seminar in the College Auditorium on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. The topic of the seminar was ‘Need for changed role and education of teachers in 21st century’. All the participants share their view regarding the role of teacher in present scenario. Students also presented cultural items.
A colorful programme was organized by the students of SVS Degree College for Women, Rajouri to celebrate the Teachers’ Day in the Institution. Seven girl students spoke on the topic “Role of Teachers in Building the Nation”. A colorful cultural programme including acting of teachers was also presented by the girl students.
Ranjit College of Education celebrated Teachers; Day by organising a simple function. Students presented cultural items like Punjabi Dance while Principal Dr Renu Gangal threw light on the teaching of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
The Day was celebrated in IECS Polytechnic, Purkhoo Camp, Domana with gaiety and great enthusiasm. Faculty members and students paid tributes to Dr S Radha Krishnan, former President of India and a great teacher. Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal, Vice Chairman, Jamwal Group of Educational Institution, was the chief guest. Students also presented dance and songs on the occasion.
A function was organized by the NSS wing of the Government MAM College in collaboration with Jamkash Jammu on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. The function started with paying homage and floral tributes to Dr S Radhakrishnan by the Principal and faculty of the College. Dr Sangeeta Sudan threw light on the life and teachings of Dr Radhakrishnan.
Government College for Women (GCW), Parade celebrated Teacher’s Day with great enthusiasm. Students organized cultural bonanza on the occasion in which teachers were honoured and speeches were made to mark the Day in general. Students performed cultural activities in which dances, songs, debates were performed.
The Day was also celebrated in Government College of Education. On the occasion, the pupil-teachers of the college organized a colorful programme which began with the tribute to the great teacher, Dr Sarvapalli Radha Krishnan. Chief guest on the occasion was Principal of the College, Dr Sangita Nagari. The attraction of the programme was the poetry spoken by Dr Baljinder Kour and Prof Rubina Yasmeen.
NSS units in collaboration with debating and literary activities committees of Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch celebrated Teacher’s Day with full fervor and gaiety. A seminar on the topic “Role and responsibilities of a teacher in the present era” was organized in which eight students participated and presented their papers.
To commemorate birth anniversary of Dr S Radhakrishnan, a function was organized in Government PG College Rajouri to record the impression of the students about their teachers. The event was celebrated in the fashion of a conference where students’ impressions and experiences were recorded so that the better can be done for the students and the institution. A symposium on the topic “Teacher a role model for the society” was also organized.
A function to celebrate birth anniversary of Dr S Radhakrishanan was organized in GDC Udhampur. The programme started with the lightening of ceremonial lamp followed by Guru Vandana by NSS volunteers. Thereafter, a symposium on the topic “Teacher is a role model for transference of Knowledge” was organized. About 20 participants extended their own views on the topic.
Teacher’s Day was also celebrated in GDC Majalta. Students organized a surprise program to honour their teachers. The students spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of teachers and their role in making their desirable personalities. Principal Prof Kusam Gupta also expressed her views on the role of teacher in fulfilling true purpose of education.
GDC, R S Pura celebrated the Day by paying glowing tributes to Dr S Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary during a small function organized in the College premises. The programme began with a group song by the NCC cadets followed by poetry recitation and declamation on the topic “Importance of teachers in shaping the student’s life”. The students also presented a mesmerizing cultural programme in the form of solo songs.
Government Polytechnic Jammu celebrated Teachers’ Day with great zeal and fervour in the College Auditorium. The function was presided over by Arun Bangotra, Principal of the college. The celebration began with paying tributes to Dr S Radhakrishnan. The students presented a cultural programme for teachers which includes group dance by girls, play, songs, Bhangra etc.
GDC Majalta students organized a surprise programme for their teachers to mark the Teachers’ Day celebrations and arranged a small function to honour them. The students spoke on the importance of teachers and their role in carving their personalities.
The Day was celebrated today at Sai Shyam Educational Society, Ghou-Manhasan with full gaiety. CL Tickoo, Chairman of the Society, was the chief guest. All the faculty members of Sai Shyam College of Education and Sai Shyam Public School attended the function. The students and teachers threw light on the importance of the Day and presented various cultural programme on the occasion.
Delhi Public School Udhampur celebrated Teachers’s Day in its premises. The day began with a beautiful cultural program starting up with a speech on “Importance of teachers”. A sensational cultural program was organized by the students along with the surprise package of amazing and wonderful games for the faculty members. The students in order to mark gratitude and affection for the mentors gave titles to them.
Enthusiasm and festivity marked the Teacher’s Day celebrations at Heritage School. Students had beautifully decorated the classrooms to welcome their teachers and honoured them with flowers and mementos. A wonderful cultural programme was organized. The Senior School students took over the responsibility of classes. Highlight of the programme was the comedy skit and the exuberant dance performance.
Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER, celebrated the Day at both its branch and Humming Buds, the pre- school to commemorate the unflinching efforts and dedication of the teachers in constructing the future of the youth. Dr Adit Gupta, Director MIER, was the chief guest. The day commenced with a floral tribute to Dr S Radhakrishnan followed by special cultural programme.
To mark the birth anniversary of Dr S Radhakrishnan, a colourful programme was organized by Education Department at Teacher Bhawan, Jammu. Chief Education Officer Jammu, JK Sudan was the chief guest on the occasion. District Education Planning Officer, Swaran Singh and Deputy Chief Education Officer, Devinder Singh Manhas were also present. On the occasion, a one act play “Refund” written by Fritz Karanthy was performed by the students of GGHSS Shastri Nagar.
Stephens International Public School celebrated the Day with zeal and fervor. A cultural extravaganza was organised by the students. Satvinder Saini, Director of the school, was the chief guest. The programme started with the singing of the ecstatic invocation song by the students in praise of Almighty. The students left no stone unturned to entertain the teachers by means of various cultural items.
Rich Harvest School celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm. A cultural extravaganza was prepared by the children. The programme started with the speech about Dr S Radhakrishnan. Students of Class 7th presented a pantomime about the significance of saving trees. Teachers were felicitated with suitable titles. A beautiful duet was rendered by class 10th students.
Students of British International School Jammu organized a surprise programme for their teachers on the eve of Teachers’ Day. The students presented gala show of cultural items in the form of skits, songs, dances to show their respect, gratitude and love for their teachers. The senior students were dressed up as glorious teachers and played their roles.
TSUS Jammu celebrated Teachers’ Day in the school premises, where all council members of students play their teacher’s role while Head Girl, Alliena Singh, played act as Principal for one day. Blind folded pot breaking competition was organized for the teachers. Antakshri, Music Chair, Dance and many more games were also organized for the teachers.
BSF School celebrated Teachers’s Day with incredible gusto and zeal in the school premises. A special morning assembly was held. Principal, Dr S K Shukla along with the staff paid floral tribute to Dr S Radhakrishnan. Ram Awtar, IG BSF Jammu FTR, was the chief guest and DIG/PSO, Hardeep Singh was the guest of honour. A brief cultural programme was organized by both students as well as teachers.
Sainik School Nagrota celebrated Teachers Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The celebration began with senior cadets of Class XII welcoming the teachers and the Chief Guest, Capt (IN) A Muthuraman, Principal with bouquets and warm greetings. The Principal garlanded the portrait of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and lit the ‘Lamp of Knowledge’ to inaugurate the function. The Principal felicitated the academic faculty and addressed the staff and cadets of the school.
92.7 BIG FM made this Teacher’s Day special for Jammu’s favorite teachers who had been nominated by their students and other Jammu people for ‘Teacher’s Day Out’ with BIG MJs. Eight teachers chosen from different schools and colleges were taken in high end cars like Audi and Mercedes from ‘Sobti Motos- The Car Mall, Narwal’, for different adventure activities. BIG MJs – MJ Juhie, MJ Rahul and MJ Roohi played fun games and contests with the teachers and gave away prizes worth thousands of rupees.
Association of Muslim Professionals, a Mumbai based Not for Profit Organization working in the areas of Education and Employment Assistance, announced its ‘AMP National Award for Excellence in Education’ on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. Chapter leaders and members of AMP from various cities across the country nominated Teachers, Principals and Senior Academicians from different Institutions out of which AMP Board selected 100 persons for conferring these awards.
Government Mixed Higher Secondary School Durga Nagar celebrated Teachers’ Day with zeal and fervor. The day was dedicated to ecology and environment. All the teachers and students took the pledge to protect our environment and ecology. Principal Dr Sanjay Pandita was also present. Students delivered speeches and performed various acts to reflect the essence of teaching and learning process.
Indira Public Higher Secondary School and Indira Kids Playway School, Shant Nagar (Janipur) celebrated Teachers’ Day. Harsh Niketan Hr Sec School, Sunderbani celebrated Teacher’s Day in memory of birth anniversary of 2nd President of India, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. A symposium entitled ‘Life & Teachings of Dr Radhakrishnan’ was organized on this occasion.
Mother India Senior Secondary School, RS Pura celebrated the Day with great zeal and fervour. Senior students played roles of teachers and taught their junior ones.

Government Higher Secondary School (Camp) Bohri, Jammu celebrated the Day with zeal and zest in the school premises. Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Rajouri celebrated Teachers Day where MLC Vibodh Gupta presided over. Addressing the students the MLC said that Indian culture has stressed on the importance of teachers in student’s life.
Bal Shishu Shiksha Kendra High School, Kaluchak celebrated Teacher’s Day in its premises. The programme started with the lightning of lamp by the chief guest Kailesh Sharma along with Principal of the School, Anju Bakshi. Teachers’ Day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm by boxers of MA Stadium with their coach, Anil Wadhera. They presented gifts to their coach as a token of love and took pledge to help others in this game.
R M Public School celebrated Teacher’s Day in its school premises and thanked the teaching faculty for its contributions in making efforts to make the lives of students better.
Kartar Public School, Barnoti celebrated Teachers’ Day on in a solemn and sober manner. A special assembly was organized wherein services of the first Vice-President of the Republic of India, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan were remembered.
Government High School, Kaluchak celebrated Teachers Day with enthusiasm. Principal of the School Sonam Dolkes highlighted the contributions of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, first Vice-President of India.
S D Tara Puri Public High School here today celebrated Teachers Day with great vibrancy and elation. MLC Vikram Randhawa was the chief guest on this occasion. After the formal programmes a cheque of Rs 51,000 was jointly presented by the School Management Committee, Principal and staff members for Kerala flood relief.

Minerva Public School Kathua celebrated Teachers Day with great enthusiasm and zeal to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Chinar Primary School (Junior Wing of Sainik School Nagrota) celebrated Teachers Day. Tiny-Tots of the School from Kindergarten to Class V showered the teachers with greetings and wishes on this occasion and expressed their fondness for them through colourful greeting cards.
Aadarsh Bhartiya Samaj-a social volunteer organisation celebrated Teacher’s Day at its office cum Library at Bhour Camp Jammu with a message ‘Respect to Teachers’.
Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan celebrated Teachers’ Day by staging Dogri Musical play ‘Vidya Daan-Sab Cha Mahan’.
In a statement issued on eve of Teachers’ Day, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam, Mohd Yousuf Tarigami, said while the Teacher’s Day is being celebrated across schools in J&K and other parts of the country, it is unfortunate that thousands of teachers in the State, hired under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), have been forced to go on an indefinite strike to protest against the Government for adopting “delaying” tactics in implementing benefits of the 7th Pay Commission. He said implementation of 7th PC is legitimate right of SSA teachers, head teachers and RMSA masters and Government should resolve this issue without any delay.
A large number of teachers under the banner of J&K Teachers Co-ordination Committee assembled at Dreamland Park Kathua and observed Teachers’ Day as protest day by staging protest demonstration and taking out rally up to DC office, demanding implementation of 7th Pay Commission in favour of teachers/masters /headmasters working under SSA/RMSA.
Paying rich tributes to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary, Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Sham Lal Sharma, said there is no better service to the nation than spreading knowledge and enlightening someone’s life with the light of education. He was addressing a gathering of students, teachers and parents during Teachers’ Day celebration organized by Universal Higher Secondary School, Shamachak.
