JAMMU, Oct 16: Diwali, the festival of colours of lights, was celebrated today with great pomp and show by various educational institutions across Jammu region.
The festival was celebrated by KC College of Education, Akhnoor Road, Jammu by organizing an Intra College Rangoli Competition in the college premises. A total of nine teams participated in the competition. Besides the participants, the college staff also took great initiative in glorifying and colouring the programme. The team-V bagged 1st prize, the 2nd prize was given to Team – VII while 3rd prize was shared by Team – VI and Team – IX.
DPS Udhampur celebrated Diwali with great fervor and enthusiasm. The school was decorated with beautiful Rangolis, Torans, house boards and diyas. The day began with a cultural extravaganza where a beautiful cultural program was organized by the kids. And inter-house folk dance competition was also organized. Another colourful event of the day was rangoli competition. The chief guest of the day, DC Udhampur, Ravindra Kumar urged the students to celebrate pollution free Diwali.
In connection with Diwali, Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School organized various competitions like Rangoli making, mehendi, Diya and pot making, card making, etc according to different age groups in its premises. Every class displayed their talent and came with a lot innovative ideas which were visible in the designs made by them. Later on an exhibition of products made by the students and Principal, Deepali Handa, announced the winners.
Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School celebrated Diwali by conducting various competitions like Rangoli making as well as diya and card making in its premises. Students enthusiastically participated in these competitions and made colourful rangolis and decorated the diyas.
As a mark of Diwali celebration, a Rangoli making competition was conducted in the premises of Nav Adarsh Higher Secondary School, Kathua, here today, in which the girls from the senior wing of the school participated. Four teams were constituted for the competition. Team of Jahanavi and Harsha was adjudged first while second spot was shared by Tajinder, Supriya and Mehak, Harpreet. The team of Mamta and Tannu stood third.
Various competitions like inter-house debate competition as well as class decoration and card making competitions were organized in the premises of AOC Higher Secondary School on the auspicious occasion of Diwali. A small theatrical act ‘RamLeela’ was also presented by students of Classes 10th, 11th and 12th. Sweets were also distributed among the students.
To mark the ethnicity of the festival of lights, two-day Diya and Rangoli making contest concluded today at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Pouni. Students of different classes actively took part in making of colourful earthen lanmps out of clay, beside actively taking part in Rangoli making activity.
Sanjeev Kumar Sharma Master trainer Art Integrated learning extended his all support in facilitating students in making Rangoli and earthen lamps who also created awareness among students regarding the vedic significance of lightening earthen lamps especially on the pious occasion of Diwali.
Diwali was celebrated in Montessori Guru Harkrishan Public School with full gusto and enthusiasm. Plethora of activities of kindergarten was organized in the school premises. Spiritual significance of this festival was stressed upon in the morning assembly by performing ‘Pooja’ followed by ‘Aarti’ during which every child took blessings from Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi for their bright and prosperous future.
Pathseekers International School, Ramgarh celebrated Diwali with pomp and show in its premises. The teachers motivated students to say no to crackers. An English Rhyme Competition for pre-primary toddlers was also organized in which all students participated with full enthusiasm. The prizes were bagged by Aryan Choudhary, Arav Choudhary and Sargun from pre-nursery.
Mount Litera Zee School Jammu and its pre primary wing KIDZEE celebrated Diwali in the school premises with religious fervour and enthusiasm. The function started with a special assembly in which the teachers gave demonstrations regarding the occasion where students and staff delivered speeches related to Diwali celebration. A conceptual skit was presented by students in which they focussed on Clean, Safe and Green Diwali. The main attraction of this festival was decoration of Diyas and colourful rangolis.
KIDZEE, a pre-school of Zee Learn Limited celebrated Diwali at its Talab Tillo, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat and Trikuta Nagar branches with religious fervor and enthusiasm. The kids were given demo regarding the theme behind the celebration of this festival. They were also made aware about how to celebrate Clean, Safe and Green Diwali by using diyas, candles and LED lights to save electricity. The main attraction of this festive was decoration of Diyas and colourful rangolis.
Daffodils Care Convent, Jain Bazar celebrated Diwali in an eco friendly way. The kids took it upon themselves to deliver the message of celebrating pollution free Diwali and held an impressive rally in the nearby market. They raised slogans of ‘avoid crackers’, burn bad habits, light diyas and candles and ‘clean earth…green earth’.
Indira Kids Playway School, Shantnagar, Janipur (Jammu) celebrated Diwali with great pomp and show. School was decorated with earthen lamps. A cultural program was organized on the occasion. Students were wearing colourful dresses and made different patterns of rangolis to decorate their classes.
Lord Mahavira Playway School, Jammu celebrated Diwali with great fervor. The celebration started with the lightening of diya and candles by Principal Madhu Sharma. Many competitions like Rangoli, fancy dress competition, Thali making, diya decoration and card making competitions for students and teachers were organized on the occasion.
Borderless World Foundation organized a function today to celebrate the festival of lights. Social activists, Pamma Pargal, Vicky Pargal, Sumit Mahajan, Atul Chopra, Palak Chopra and Rajni Mahajan were guests of the function. On the occasion, Pamma Pargal and Vicky Pargal donated and distributed 30 sweaters to the NGO’s needy girl children.
