JAMMU, Dec 23: Christmas was celebrated today with great fervor and enthusiasm by various educational institutions across Jammu region.
KC International School (KCIS) celebrated a pre-Christmas celebration in its premises. The colourful morning began with a wonderful welcome song. An English play was enacted highlighting the spirit of Christmas and the birth and sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sake of humanity. Children performed enthralling dances adding to the festive atmosphere. At the end, a staff member attired as Santa Claus attracted the attention of the students and distributed candies and gifts among them. The children also cut a Christmas cake.
DPS Nagbani celebrated Christmas in the school premises with great fervor and valor. Along with the decoration of the Christmas tree the school was also well decorated with balloons and buntings. The children presented a cultural programme in which carols, hymns and dance items were presented. Principal RK Verma and MK Ajatshatru Singh, Chairman/Trustee of Maharaja Hari Singh Social and Education Foundation, conveyed their best wishes to the students and staff.
Christmas was celebrated with fanfare and zeal at St Peter‘s Higher Secondary School. Students dressed in colorful fineries painted the school in Christmas hue and brought alive the nativity scene through the sprightly carol competition. The event was glorified with the valued presence of Fr Jose along with holding of prize distribution ceremony. Rev Father Suresh Britto, Principal and Vice Principal, Sister Simon graced the event.
The students and staff of Alexander Memorial School celebrated X’mas function in the school premises with usual solemnity and gaiety. The whole campus was decorated with buntings, X’mas, symbolic stars, etc befitting the religious festival. Nicodemes, proprietor, Sheela Builders, was the chief guest. Rev Udai Singh Presbyter, Incharge, St Paul’s Church, Jammu gave the Christmas message. The tiny tots staged a small skit depicting scenes from the nativity play.
Bethel Living Word School organized a Christmas function in its premises. Anil Chopra (DCC, Jammu Urban), Bhupinder Singh, Co-ordinator of Congress Minority Cell Jammu, Rajesh Gill (SP Persecution officer), Gourav Chopra, general secretary, District Congress, Jammu, Paster Shokat Peter (president of Bethel Ministry and All Joint Churches Paster followship), John Raques Bhatti (president, Bethel Charitable Trust) attended the function. The students performed many dances and Christmas play to convey the love of Jesus to people. The function concluded with cake cutting ceremony.
Dewan Devi Playway/ Higher Secondary School, Rajpura, today celebrated “Christmas Day” with great enthusiasm. Students of Kindergarten wing attired in Santa Claus distributed sweets and chocolates among the students. Innocence of the tender buds was on full display. The Chairman of the school addressed the students with his impressive speech and advised them to work hard so that they may become good citizens of the soil.
Shiv Public Higher Secondary School celebrated Christmas with zeal and zest here today. The school organized a special assembly to celebrate the festival. The colourful bells, stars, buntings and brightly decorated Christmas tree adorned the stage. MD of the school, Shiv Salaria, distributed sweets and fruit cakes among the students and staff. The little children were wearing attractive customary and traditional dresses. This was followed by a beautiful dance performance by tiny tots on X-mas song.
Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua organized a pre-Christmas function in its premises. A special assembly was conducted wherein students spoke about the true meaning of Christmas. They came attired in colourful dresses and decorated the school with bright and colourful bells, buntings and stars. Tiny tots of pre-primary section exhibited their talents through songs and mesmerizing dance performances. An English play was also staged highlighting the spirit of Christmas and the birth and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sake of humanity.
NPH High School celebrated Christmas Day with fanfare. On the occasion, Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal was the chief guest. The celebration function started with special prayers and the march past presented by the contingents of students from 8th, 9th and 10th class. Students presented cultural items and skits to mark the occasion while toddlers attired as fairies and Santa Claus remained attractions of the programme. Debate competition, Punjabi folk dance and item presented on a western music enthralled the audience.
Students and staff members of MC Khalsa High School, Chand Nagar (Jammu) celebrated Christmas with gaiety and fervor. Dalbir Singh Sudan, Principal of the school, highlighted the spiritual importance of Christmas. He exhorted everyone to become an agent of peace and work towards the realization of love and peace in the world.
Spring Blossom’s Public School, Lakkar Mandi (Jammu) celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ in a grand manner. Kindergarten children dressed as angels presented a dance with Santa Claus. The students presented a cultural show. A play on the birth of Christ was the highlight of the celebrations. Principal Divya Gupta spoke about the religious importance of the Christmas.
DRS Kids International School, Harsa Dabbar, Bishnah celebrated Christmas with great pomp and show. Children along with staff members sang carols on the birth of Lord Jesus. Children were dressed in attires of fairies and Santa Claus. A cake cutting ceremony was also organized. Chairperson of school, Ajay Sharma, and Principal Renu Sharma addressed the children and advised them to follow the preaching of Lord Jesus.
Christmas was celebrated at Star Kidzee Playway School, Gajansoo-Marh with great enthusiasm and zeal. On the occasion, students presented various programmes including Christmas carols, dance and skit depicting the birth and life of Jesus Christ. Principal Sonia Sharma and chief guest Bhushan Kumar Sharma, a social activist, spoke on the life of Jesus. The function concluded with the cake cutting ceremony.
Christmas was celebrated with great zeal in Tiger Army Pre Primary School, Sunjuwan Cantt, Jammu. Dressed beautifully in red and white attires, the tiny tots sang, acted and danced with lots of joy and mesmerized the audience with scintillating performance on the foot tapping number ‘Jingle Bells’. The story of the birth of Jesus was narrated to the students by Principal Jaspreet Kaur.
In connection Christmas celebrations, a religious procession was taken out in Kathua city. Led by president, Christian Welfare Committee, Sawan Chida, the procession started from Catholic Church and passes through various parts of the city. A number of the people drawn from all walk of the society attended the procession. The procession was well decorated with portraits and ‘Jhankies’ of Lord Jesus and Mother Marry. While addressing the people, Swan Chida prayed for peace and normalcy in the State and killing of evil forces in the society.
Wonder World School, Trikuta Nagar and Gandhi Nagar celebrated Christmas with great enthusiasm. The schools were decorated for the festivities. The children came beautifully dressed as Santa Claus, fairies and in other Christmas attires. The children along with the teachers sang “Jingle Bells” and danced also. Gitanjali Mahajan distributed sweets and gifts to the children.
