Education Minister holds talks with agitating JU employees

JAMMU, Mar 23: As the Jammu University non-teaching and non-gazetted employees today extended duration of their ongoing token strike, which entered into 21st consecutive day, the Education Minister invited the agitating employees for talks, which were held at the Civil Secretariat.
During the meeting with Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education and then the Minister for Education, the members of the Coordination Committee of JU Not-Teaching Employees Union and Non-Gazetted Employees Union, highlighted their demands, which include grade enhancement, pre-86 position on ARs, re-designation of technical isolated categories, re-engagement of Human Genetics Centre staff, etc.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the employees and said that he would discuss their demands with the Chief Minister and outcome of the discussion would be conveyed to them by tomorrow.
Earlier, the Coordination Committee of both the Unions decided to further increase duration of their daily protest from 10.00am to 4.30pm. During demonstration today, the agitating employees raised slogans for fulfillment of their demands.
Speakers while reiterating their demands, warned the University authorities that the protest demonstration would continue unless and until the demands already agreed upon by them are met. “The onus of further delay in fulfilling the demands lies on the University authorities,” they said.
The demonstration was addressed by Pawan Singh Bhau , Vijay Kumar, Sham Sharma, Ashwani Bakshi, Vikas Langer, Abhinav Sharma, Vidhya Lal, Banarasi Lal and others.
