JAMMU, Oct 5: A deputation of All J&K Electric Department Linemen and Workers’ Union (EDLWU) today met Chief Engineer (CE), M&RE Wing, Jammu and demanded him that the department should bear treatment expenses of two need-based employee of the department, who got electrocuted while performing their duties.
The deputation told the Chief Engineer that aggrieved need-based employees of STD- II namely Tarsem Lal and Rajeev Kumar got electrocuted on September 30 while repairing a transformer when some employee on duty at Kanachak receiving station turned the power supply on whereas the victim employees had taken shut down.
It was informed to the Chief Engineer that both the need-based employees are undergoing treatment in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, since the day of the accident but no body from the department visited the hospital to enquire about their health condition.
On the demand of the Union to bear the expenses of the treatment of the injured employees, the Chief Engineer passed on spot directions to concerned officials to ensure their best treatment from GMC Jammu, CMC or PGI Chandigarh on department expenses.
