JAMMU, Dec 8: All Jammu and Kashmir Electric Department Linemen & Workers Union (EDLWU) Jammu today demanded enquiry/investigation into the unfortunate death of technician Rajeev Singh due to electrocution.
The issue was discussed by office bearers of the Union during a meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Ashiq Hussain, president of the Union. Addressing the meeting, Ashiq Hussain said that late Rajeev Singh, who was working in the Department as a technician, died due to electrocution while he was performing his duties on an electric pole at Receiving Station Dansal under STD-I, Jammu.
Hussain said that responsible officer/s on duty needs to be inquired and investigated as to under which circumstances the technician Rajeev Singh received electric shock and died. He said the officer responsible should be dealt with heavy hands of law. At the same time, Hussain urged Commissioner/ Secretary to J&K PDC Limited to provide ex-gratia relief of Rs 10 lakh to the bereaved family and job to one family member for sustenance.
