JAMMU, May 15: Reiterating Government’s determination for holistic and comprehensive development in the State, the Minister for Transport Abdul Ghani Kohli today said that economic welfare of far flung and backward areas is among the priorities of the present dispensation.
The Minister said this while conducting four days extensive tour of Poonch and Rajouri districts.
Kohli said that pro people policies based on equitable development is the larger objective of the coalition while main focus is to upgrade basic amenities including road connectivity, education, health, drinking water and sanitation in these areas. He said that efforts are on to frame comprehensive rural development strategy aimed to develop those areas which have been neglected during previous Government.
Regarding functioning of the Government, the Minister said that specific instructions have been issued by Chief Minister to Ministers to pay special attention on the integrated development of remote areas that have not received desired attention in the past. He said that Govt will leave no stone unturned for the development of all the areas.
Earlier, the Minister also held a grievances redressal camp at Mendhar where people raised their issues about lack of various basic amenities, poor road connectivity, shortage of medical staff at hospitals, de-slitting of canals, installation of street lights along road side in bus stand area, construction of tunnel on Mughal Road and relief distribution among flood victims.
