Eco-friendly vehicles will change lifestyle of rural populace : Gadkari

MAHARAJGANJ/ GHAZIPUR, Jan 25:
Union Road Transports and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said the use of electric vehicles and ethanol in the transport system will lead the country to development and will change the lifestyle of rural populace.
” Use of ethanol in a big way in the country will certainly change the future of the farmers besides it will minimise the financial burden on the Government. E-vehicles along with ethanol will certainly, end the pollution problem too,” he said.
Addressing a gathering here after inaugurating and laying foundation of couple of National Highways in eastern UP, Mr Gadkari also disclosed that two motorcycle companies would be introducing  ethanol based bikes on January 30 through which people would get cheaper fuel to travel.
” When the cost of petrol is rising due to international reasons and is now over Rs 74 per litre, but people would get ethanol only at around Rs 42 per litre.
Besides  it will be pollution free and farmers would be benefited as ethanol would be produced from the left over of agricultural produce including molasses, bagasse and even from bamboo and paddy stubble.
” The dream of the BJP Government would be fulfilled once ethanol is used in full fledged in the country besides e-vehicle will also lower the cost of running buses and other vehicles,” he claimed.
He said  the Centre spends around Rs 8 lakh crore per annum to import petroleum products which will also minimize due to use of ethanol.
The Union minister also invited UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to Nagpur to see how the companies are making ethanol from molasses and other wastes.
Mr Gadkari also asked UP Government to make preparation for launch sea-plane in the state. ”
If UP Government is prepared then Union government can launch sea-plane in the state and regular service can be done between Lucknow and Varanasi or between Allahabad and Varanasi,” he said.
Talking about the roads, he said that road are the basic need for development of an area and UP will not lag behind. ” We have taken up several road projects in the state and will take up more in future,” he said.
Commenting on the waterways in the country, he said that there is a proposal to launch waterways transport system in 111 rivers in the state.” Waterways  is the cheapest mode of transport in the world and very soon Government will launch the Haldia- Varanasi waterways,” he said.
The Minister also laid the foundation of the Intermodal terminal at Ghazipur on Thursday. The function was also addressed by UP deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and other BJP MPs and leaders.
The Union minister also announced bypass in Maharajganj and Deoria besides assured to take up several other road projects in eastern UP.
Meanwhile, Nitin Gadkari, on Thursday laid the foundation stone for an Intermodal Terminal for inland waterways between Haldia and Varanasi.  (UNI)
