REASI, Mar 11: Election Commission of India Observer S G Ragveendra inspected the electoral awareness photo exhibition at Katra which was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Reasi Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary earlier in the morning at Spiritual Growth Centre, SMVD Shrine Board Complex. Hundreds of pilgrims and local residents visited the exhibition which will continue for two days followed by next exhibition at SMVD University.
Inaugurating the second Electoral Literacy Exhibition in the district, the District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) underlined the importance of ethical voting and greater participation through a well crafted strategy of informed voting. He said that 14 photo exhibitions are planned before April 17th, the date of polls for Udhampur-Kathua Parliamentary constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, S G Raveendra said that the richness of the photo exhibition reflected the massive electoral awareness work done on ground in last 7 months under the SVEEP campaign Jashn-e-Jamhuriat under guidance of District Election Officer.
The exhibition displayed photographs of major electoral awareness events in the district, youth shows, rallies, Human Chains, tribal meetings, green vote plantation drive, women rallies, signature campaign and other events. A movie show was also organized on sidelines of the exhibition. BLOs from three polling stations displayed voter lists and special EVM familiarization camp was also organized.
PO DRDA Dr Jagdish Mehra designed and displayed the exhibition, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Tilak Raj Sharma coordinated a series of activities for the exhibition which was supported by departments.
Chief Electoral Officer Umang Naurla in his message expressed happiness over series of photo exhibitions, blood donation camps and plantation drives launched in the district as a part of SVEEP campaign and hoped that these innovative strategies are bound to increase the turnout besides encouraging ethical and informed voting.
