EC issues notice to Sunny Deol for violation of model code of conduct

CHANDIGARH: The Election Commission has issued a notice to Bollywood actor and BJP Gurdaspur candidate Sunny Deol for allegedly holding a public meeting in Pathankot on Friday night after the silent period came in force in Punjab.

The EC officials also found that a loud speaker was also used in the public meeting attended by around 200 people.

It was pointed out in the notice that SAD-BJP candidate Sunny Deol has violated the model code of conduct by holding a public meeting during the silent period.

Electioneering is completely banned in all 13 parliamentary constituencies in Punjab 48 hours before the polling process. The polling in the State will begin at 0700 hrs on Sunday. (AGENCIES)
