JAMMU, May 27: Government today accorded sanction to the constitution of Empowered Committee (EC) for implementation of Article 5.3 of WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) Policy along with ensuring proper compliance with the protocol and procedure to deal and engage with the tobacco industry or its representatives in Jammu and Kashmir.
Administrative Secretary H&ME J&K will be chairman of the Empowered Committee while Mission Director NHM J&K, Commissioner Food and Drug Administration, Commissioner State Taxes J&K and Director Health Services Jammu/ Kashmir shall be its members.
Besides, representatives (not below the rank of Additional Secretary) of Home Department, Finance Department, Housing and Urban Development Department, Department of Law and Industries & Commerce Department shall also be members of the EC.
Further, Nodal Officer of National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) J&K will be member secretary of the Committee.
