SHIMLA, Oct 2:
Himachal Pradesh experienced two moderate intensity earthquakes within a span of five hours today as it was felt in parts of Chamba, Lahaul and Spiti, Kangra and Shimla.
However, there was no report of loss of property and life from any where in the State.
The first quake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale rocked many parts of the State of Chamba and Lahaul and Spiti at 0915 hrs this morning, Meteorological office said.
Meteorological office Director Manmohan Singh told that the tremors were felt for a few seconds in several parts of the State at 0915 hrs.
The second quake with an intensity of 4.9 on the Richter scale hit almost the same region at 1405 hours.
The epicentre was located on the border hills of districts of Chamba and Lahaul and Spiti, bordering Jammu and Kashmir.
The epicentre of the first earthquake was at latitude 32.4 degrees north and longitude 76.4 degrees, while the second was at latitude 32.3 degrees north and longitude 76.3 degrees.
