SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition National Conference are working on a secret pact to promote dynasty politics and allow corruption to flourish at the expense of the miseries of the people of the State.
In a press statement here, Vakil alleged that several proven cases of corruption are pending disposal against both former ministers and legislatures in premier investigative agencies and several independent commissions established under acts of State Legislature but no action is being taken against the guilty.
Referring to the revelations of an RTI that 80% non- existent SSA buildings during previous Omar Abdullah Government, the inconclusive investigation of thousands of infant deaths at GB Panth Hospital Srinagar, the probes into substandard water pipes of the PHE Department and the substandard drugs in Health Department, Vakil said delaying investigations is part of the strategy of the present Government is pursuing to shield the power wielding politicians of both the PDP-BJP combine and also the opposition National Conference.
Calling upon the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to take a cue from the RTI revelations against both former ministers and legislatures and fast track all the investigations particularly on infant deaths at G B Pant Hospital Srinagar, the probes into substandard water pipes of the PHE Department and the substandard drug in Health Department. He said such big scams took place in previous regimes but present Government has even failed to fix responsibility.
Vakil also said that had the National Conference and PDP been true to what they say about the commonality on special status of the State and killing of innocent civilians, the normalcy would have been restored long back. He also sought the cooperation of the people for curbing the dynasty politics and corruption in Jammu & Kashmir State. It is surprising that those who are crying for safeguarding Article 370 and 35-A are themselves responsible for eroding it, Vakil maintained.
