SRINAGAR, Sept 9: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today interacted with the participants of nine-day National Integration Tour organised by the Army’s 33-RR under the aegis of U-Force.
The group consists of people from districts of Ramban, Reasi, Rajouri, and Nowshera especially those living in the border areas.
Interacting with the group, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the initiative taken by the Army is appreciable as it provides opportunity to the people of the State to interact with each other and also get to know the different areas which inculcate a sense of integration and belonging in them. He said these types of tours should be undertaken on regular basis so that more and more people are given the opportunity to get the glimpse of the diverse nature of nation which is very important for the integration of the country.
Dr Singh said the group will gain the requisite knowledge and know-how about the functioning of the tourism and horticulture sector besides it would also gain experience about the local cottage industries like carpets, shawls etc which would go a long way in educating them about the ways and means of uplifting the economy of their local areas as well.
The group has been taken to different places in the Valley including Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, besides they have also been given firsthand information about the education sector, horticulture, the functioning of the SIDCO and the local handicraft industry.
