SRINAGAR, Aug 11: The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today said the Government would complete the Tawi Project within the stipulated time-frame and services and expertise of various national and international experts would be co-opted for the project to make it one of the major attractions in Jammu city.
The Deputy Chief Minister was interacting with the Dutch team having expertise in river and lake development, besides town planning.
Commissioner/Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Bipul Pathak and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
Dr. Singh said the Tawi project is one of the prestigious projects being undertaken by the Government for the beautification of the river Tawi and its adjoining areas. He said the project envisages development of the same by creating parks, tourism related infrastructure and other allied things.
The Deputy Chief Minster said the Government is committed for ensuring preservation, restoration and conservation of the water bodies of the State and in this regard the expertise from various technical experts of the field is being sought so that the necessary action would be initiated.
Dr. Singh also discussed the various issues like flood management, restoration of the water bodies, town planning and also the concept of smart cities with the Dutch team. He said that the Government has taken up the issue of smart cities with the Centre and early response in this regard is awaited.
