DyCM directs for immediate restoration of power infra in Jammu

SRINAGAR, July 7: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today directed the Commissioner Secretary, PDD to ensure immediate restoration of the electric infra, poles, transmission of the electric power which had got damaged due to the recent hailstorm in Jammu.
The directions were given during a high level meeting convened today to discuss the measures undertaken by the department to restore the electric power supply and also repair the damaged infrastructure in Jammu.
Commissioner, Secretary, Power Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta and other senior officers were present.
Dr. Singh said that the measures for restoration should be undertaken on war footing so that the people do not face any further inconvenience. He said that a control room should also be established in order to monitor the hourly restoration measures being undertaken by the field staff. “Complete synergy should be maintained between different wings in order to ensure the restoration within the shortest possible time”, he said.
The meeting was told that restoration process has already been initiated under the directions of the Deputy Chief Minister who had earlier telephonically directed the Chief Engineer PDD to undertake the measures as soon as the storm passed. It was also given out that the electric power supply has also been restored to some extent.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister also conducted a visit of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Srinagar Development Authority and took a review of the measures being undertaken by the corporation for ensuring the cleanliness drive and the measures for overall hygiene.
He was accompanied by senior officers of SMC and Housing and Urban Development Department.
Dr. Singh directed the officers to ensure that the proper cleanliness measures are put in place for the Srinagar city especially in view of the Eid festivities. He said that the necessary directions should also be passed down the line and a regulatory mechanism be put in place which would be monitoring it on the day-to-day basis.
He also called for putting in place a mechanism for overall hygiene of this historic city especially in view of the ensuing tourist season. He said that a comprehensive programme of Swatch Bharat Mission has already been put in place by the Prime Minister and we should also contribute our bit in making the programme a grand success.
The Deputy Chief Minister also visited the Srinagar Development Authority and obtained the necessary information about the measures being undertaken by it for giving a comprehensive housing and other related facilities to the people.
Vice Chairman, SDA, Thaseen Mustafa and other senior officers gave an over view of various activities being undertaken by the authority.
Dr. Singh also visited the Central office of Urban Local Bodies at Bemina and took the stock of the measures being undertaken by the department especially in view of the Eid festivities. He directed for maintaining the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the various Municipal Committees and towns in the Kashmir Division and said that the necessary mechanism should also be put in place to ensure that the people get the requisite facilities as are mandated to the department.
Director Urban Local Bodies Tufail Matoo and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
