JAMMU, Nov 17: Deputy Mayor, Baldev Singh Bilawaria kick started the work of black topping on the road at Ward Number 53 Trikuta Nagar in Bahu constituency today.
Deputy Mayor, was accompanied by Chairman Health and Sanitation, Raj Kumar Tarkhan, corporator Jyoti Devi, officials of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and dignitaries. This development work will be done under the supervision of JMC at a cost of about Rs 25 lakh approximately.
Deputy Mayor praised the development works done by corporator, Jyoti Devi in Ward Number 53. He said that JMC is committed to provide development at the doorstep of the people. He directed the engineers and the concerned contractor to complete the works with quality material and up to the satisfaction of the residents. The Deputy Mayor said that the JMC has accelerated the development works in all the wards of the city and now the development works are visible at the ground level. Billawaria said that the Corporation is working at every level to provide all kinds of basic facilities to the people while the Modi Government at the Center is also working on its agenda of providing better development to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that in the coming days, the JMC is going to start development works worth crores of rupees in Jammu city, which will bring great relief. Chairman Raj Kumar Tarkhan appealed to the people to make Jammu city neat, clean and green. He also appealed to the general public to avoid the use of plastic and polythene carry bags and not to throw filth, debris etc and cooperate with the JMC. Corporator Jyoti Devi said black topping on the road was the demand of the local people which has now been fulfilled. She said this will give a lot of relief to the area. She said that soon other the development works of the area will also be taken up in the hand in a phased manner.
Later, Billawaria visited Sector-1, Trikuta Nagar along with Raj Kumar Tarkhan and Jyoti Devi to look into the drinking water shortage faced by the people there. The locals apprised the Deputy Mayor about the water problem and leakage of pipes of the area. Billawaria gave on the spot directives to the officials to ensure smooth water supply so that the people do not face any shortage of drinking water.
