JAMMU, June 26: The residents of Durga Nagar ,Patoli Brahmana and Lower Barnai have expressed grave concern over water scarcity and power crisis respectively.
Taking up the issue of water scarcity in Durga Nagar with PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister ,Shyam Choudhary and authorities of the PHE Department, Durga Nagar Welfare Society representatives as well as representatives of All Displaced Kashmiri United Forum (ADKUF) Roshan Lal Raina and D N Kissu urged them to find an immediate solution to the problem failing which they will be forced to take to streets. The two leaders demanded that sump be made functional immediately to restore the water supply in Durga Nagar and save the people from the problems.
Meanwhile, Dr Ramesh and Nana Ji Raina ex Sarpanch have criticized the PDD authorities for the power curtailment in Patoli Brahmana, Sharda Colony, Saraswati Vihar and Lower Barnai and demanded that in case the power supply was not made better the people of these localities will be forced to come to streets.
They said despite paying huge fee the area faces power cuts for hours together. They said while the light was off for 18 hours in the area on Sunday, the electricity played hide and seek for entire day today also putting the people especially children, old and infirm to many hardships in this hot and humid temperature.
They said despite taking fee the PDD is duty bound to provide round the clock power supply to the consumers and the claims made by the present Government to better the electricity supply under the Ujwala Yojna have proved totally hollow as instead of improving the power supply it has been worst ever now.
