Dungdara bridge in Baramulla

A collapsed cross- over bridge at Dungdara Keeri in Baramulla district of Kashmir is in the same condition for the last few months awaiting an early action by the Rural Development Department to repair it . In the present situation, villagers of Dungdara are put to inconvenience as this village virtually is cut off from its other side of the flowing Nigli Nullah that is connected by this bridge which was extensively damaged by floods a few months ago.
We have learnt that this bridge is otherwise serving as the ‘lifeline’ for the agricultural activities as the cultivatable land of this village is concentrated on the other side of this bridge hence the importance of the need to have it repaired at the earliest. At least, someone concerned from the Rural Development Department should have visited the spot , assessed the damage in order to start the process to rebuild this small bridge. How many can afford to swim through the Nullah to reach the other end which is also not free from associated risks especially when the Nullah is in spate due to rains. We urge the concerned department to initiate the process of the repairs /rebuilding of this bridge.
