Duggar Manch releases 2 translation books by Prof Shalini Rana

JAMMU, May 12: Two books, one translated in English from Dogri and another in Dogri from English, by Prof Shalini Rana, were released here today during a function organized by Duggar Manch.
Speaker J&K Assembly, Prof Nirmal Singh was chief guest on the occasion while Darshan Darshi, convener Dogri Sahitya Akademi Advisory Board, New Delhi, preside over the function.

Titles of books, released in the function, are ‘Black Sun’ and ‘Banjar Dharti’. Black Sun is an English translation of Mohan Singh’s highest acclaimed play Kala Suraj and Banjar Dharti is a Dogri translation of world famous poet T S Eliot’s poem Barran Land.
In his welcome address, Mohan Singh, president Duggar Manch, said that Prof Shalini Rana has done a unique job for the popularization of her mother tongue Dogri. “She has tried to introduce Dogri literature at international spectrum and world’s famous literature for Dogri knowing people,” he said and added that these types of works are very important for the promotion of language and literature.
Chief guest Prof Nirmal Singh, while addressing in the function , congratulate Prof Shalini Rana for her unique effect.
Darshan Darshi, in his presidential address, said that collaborative efforts are needed for the promotion of Dogri language and literature.
On the occasion, papers were also presented by the eminent scholars to highlight the quality of translation. Dr Narsingh and M S Parihar were the scholars who presented the papers. Shivdev Sushil presented the vote of thanks.
