The demand of the people to have a Duggar Channel is genuine and a need of the hour. The Dogri language was included in the 8th schedule of our Constitution on Dec 22, 2003. But in all these coming years, no sincere effort has been made by our State Government to have a Duggar Channel for the promotion of the language.
Today’s youth in schools and colleges especially girls are so hesitant to speak Dogri that if someone tries to speak them in Dogri, they just ignore him.
The channel will also be a boon to our people living in border areas where Pakistan Radio and TV is more effective than India. This channel will be a excellent medium to counter Pak propaganda.
The Government should give a due thought to this demand of people of Jammu.
