DTE meets CCI, other industry representatives

JAMMU, Sept 4: Director Technical Education (DTE), Anoo Malhotra along with other officers of the department today met president of Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI), Jammu, Rakesh Gupta and other industry representatives to bridge the gap between industry and academic institutions.
Arun Bangotra, Principal, Government Polytechnic, Jammu, Ritu Jamwal, Principal, Government Women Polytechnic, Jammu, GM Bhat, Joint Director (ITIs), Anoop Sharma, Assistant Director, Technical Education, SR Bansal, Industrialist, SAC Bari Brahmana, Ajay Langer, general secretary, Viraaj Malhotra from Bari Brahama Industrial Association and representatives of Confederation of Indian Industry also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the DTE Anoo Malhotra impressed upon better interaction between technical institutions and industry in near future and said these interactions will have great bearing on the Polytechnics/ITIs curriculum, exposure of students to industrial atmosphere and subsequent placement of young graduating engineers in industries across the State and country.
The CCI president assured the DTE that full co-operation will be provided to the Department of Technical Education and CCI will act as nodal agency for providing the industrial training and placement to the students of Polytechnics and ITIs.
During the meeting discussion was also held that Dummy Industrial units will be established by the Department of Technical Education in near future to provide the technical exposure to the students. It was also put forth in the meeting that Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed between the Department of Technical Education and CCI to revamp the Technical Education Department by providing employment opportunities and industrial Training in various set-ups at Jammu and Kashmir.
It was also proposed in meeting that Industry-Institute Interaction will be designed to prepare the manpower of world class in the field of science and technology by inculcating the various skills required by the industry, thereby contributing to the economic and social development at large.
