DSS observes ‘Dogri Manyata Diwas’

JAMMU, Dec 22: In a meeting here today Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) observed Dogri Manyata Diwas.
Speaking on the occasion, President DSS, Gulchain Singh Charak recalled as to how Dogri along with Bodo, Maithali and Santhali were included in the 8th schedule of constitution on this day in 2003.
Calling it an historical achievement by the stalwarts of DSS, he said that it marked a new era of self respect and revived the dignity of this secular warrior race comprising of all communities.
On this occasion DSS unanimously resolved to urge the Government to effectively promote Dogri as the third subject in all schools and colleges in the State and fill up the vacancies of Dogri language teachers in institutions.
“It is only tragic, that such a sweet dialect is being ignored and not given its due,” said Prof Neel Kanth Sharma.
Insisting upon an independent Dogri Satellite Channel, Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, VrC said that it shall not only meet the aspiration of a vast 78 percent non-Kashmiri speaking population of the State but also help the nation strategically in countering the evil propaganda from across IB/LoC where it is Dogri and akin Pahari, Gojri and Mojri languages that are spoken and understood.
Col. Karan Singh Jamwal, Prem Sagar Gupta, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Brig. M.S Jamwal, Ch. Karan Singh, Prem Sagar Gupta, Dr. M.R Bharmagi, Bharat Bhushan Talwar, Ravi Rohmetra, Virender Kumar Gupta, Amrik Singh Shalatia and Girdhari Lal Sharma were also present in the meeting.
