DSP slaps 2 Govt officials

SRINAGAR, Aug 8: Two Government school officials were allegedly abused and slapped by a senior police officer in Kreeri area of North Kashmir’s Baramullah district.
The Vice-Principal of Government Higher Secondary Institute Kreeri, Tanveer Ahmad alleged that at around 9:10 am, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Amir Iqbal entered into school premises along with a dozen of his men. He said that the officer told Bashir Ahmad, an Urdu Lecturer that stones were hurled at security forces from the school but the Lecturer denied.
The Vice-Principal alleged that the police officer slapped Bashir and when he intervened he was also abused and slapped.
The school’s vice-principal said they have lodged a complaint with police and demanded stern action against the officer. The officer, however, denied the allegations.
In the meantime, police have ordered probe into the incident. “We have started investigations into the matter and Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Manzoor Ahmad has been appointed as enquiry officer,” the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, North Kashmir Ghulam Hassan Bhat said.
