Jammu and Kashmir is now being used as a new route for the transit of drugs through Punjab as per police sources which is a cause of concern . Trafficking in drugs and narcotic substances is on the rise in Jammu and Kashmir after engulfing Punjab in a considerable way. The enemies of humanity as such have evil and diabolic intentions and plans to make Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir as a “Drugs Zone”. Recent seizure of 16 Kgs of heroin in Gurdaspur district of Punjab have led the Police know that the National Highway – Jammu to Punjab was being extensively used for transporting to and from the two ends consignments of drugs.
Without going into details any further, it only shows that the drugs mafia is two steps ahead of the law enforcing agencies and are emboldened in carrying on their trade in poison not only for phenomenal financial gains from the sale thereof, the proceeds of which are used for funding terrorists also but ensuring the most productive young human resources of this UT was weakened , even incapacitated. Such an increasingly debased strategy and vileness of the drugs mafia needs to be fought out on various fronts, now aggressively, including bringing in amendments in the existing Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).
