JAMMU, Apr 19: In continuation to its drive against drug peddlers to annihilate properties of drug peddlers, District Police Jammu under the supervision of Vinod Kumar (SSP Jammu) executed another attachment operation resulting in the freezing/seizure of a car (Thar) worth in lakhs owned by a peddler at Akhnoor.
The car belonged to the notorious drug peddler Anil Singh alias Furtila son of Madan Singh, resident of Hamirpur area of Khour (at present living in Kodewala, Akhnoor). The police executed this operation under sections 68 A 2 (c) & E read with 68-F of the NDPS Act of 1985, dealing with provisions for attachment of properties of drug peddlers/smugglers. The mandate has been provided for accused detained under PIT NDPS Act also.
The drug peddler Anil Singh is presently detained under PIT NDPS Act by the Akhnoor police in a warrant issued by Divisional Commissioner Jammu and is lodged in District Jail Jammu. There are many cases against the accused including cases of drug peddling registered at PS Akhnoor under FIR Number 152/2011 u/s 302/109/307/147/148 RPC, FIR Number 191/2014 u/s 351/323/34 RPC, FIR Number 74/2017 u/s 307/382/341/323 RPC& 4/25IAA and FIR Number 248/2021 u/s 8/21/29 NDPS Act, besides FIR Number 180/2023 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act registered at PS Katra.
The property, identified as ill-gotten gains acquired through illicit drug trafficking, was uncovered during thorough investigation and inquiry conducted by police team of Akhnoor Subdivision with the help of Transport Department.
The property attachment operation was conducted by the team headed by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma and SHO Akhnoor Tariq Ahmed under the supervision of SP Rural Brijesh Sharma.
