SRINAGAR, July 4: Police in Kulgam today said to have arrested three notorious drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Kulgam at a checkpoint established near Balsoo crossing intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK18A-1048 with three persons on board.
“They have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Mir son of Ali Mohammad Mir, Iqbal Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie both residents of Buchroo and Reyaz Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Khalil Dar resident of Brazloo,” police said.
During checking, police said, officers were able to recover 130 Kgs of poppy straw, two grinding machines and a digital weighing machine from their possession.
“They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” police said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 161/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police station Kulgam and further investigation into the case has been taken up.
