Drug peddlers held in Anantnag with contraband

Srinagar, Nov 28: Police today said to have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Police Station Bijbehara received information through reliable sources regarding drug dealings in premises of Sangam Roadway Transport Company located at Sangam.
Accordingly, a police party from Police Station Bijbehara led by SHO Bijbehara under the supervision of SDPO Bijbehara along with the Executive Magistrate raided the specific location. During the search, 70Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from the said spot.
“One accused person namely Bashir Ahmed Reshi Son of Mohd Sultan Reshi resident of Batpora Naina was arrested on the spot. However, 02 accused persons identified as Sajad Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Maqbool Bhat resident of Waghama and Ab Hameed Mir son of Abdul Raheem Mir resident of Natipora Sangam managed to escape from the spot and efforts are on to effect their arrest,” police said.
It said that the accused person has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
Meanwhile, in another action, a police party of Police Station Anantnag established a checkpoint at Mehandi Kadal Anantnag and intercepted a suspicious person identified as Naseer Ahmad Khan son of Hayat Khan resident of Haapatnar.
“During the search, officers were able to recover 2.7Kgs of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at respective Police Stations and investigations have been set into motion.
