Srinagar, Dec 26: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police today arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
A police party of Police Post Nagbal at a checkpoint established at Gratbal Nagbal intercepted a suspicious person who tried to escape from the spot however, the alert Police party tactfully apprehended him.
“He has been identified as Abdul Ahad Mir son of Ali Mohd Mir resident of Wayil Ganderbal. During checking, officers were able to recover 2Kgs of Poppy Straw from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the Police Station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 229/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
